Service

Service has been an important way for me to engage with and give back to the disability research and research methods communities. I don't come from an academic family background, and I firmly believe that I wouldn't have gotten to where I am without members of these communities supporting me along the way - from helpful peer reviewers giving me careful manuscript/conference proposal feedback to members of various academic organizations encouraging me to work with them. Being able to continue that service tradition to support future students/aspiring researchers is a central reason why I plan to become a professor! In the section below, I describe my current involvement with two organizations, as well as my peer review service to-date. My full list of service activities can be found on my CV.

Key Organizational Service Activities

I regularly collaborate to the AERA Mixed Methods Research (MMR) SIG as a core component of my service. I currently serve as Webmaster for the SIG, and I recently finished my term as a Graduate Student Representative. I look forward to continuing to be active in this SIG moving forward!

Reviewing Activities

In addition to my involvment with the organizations listed above, I regularly review for multiple journals and conferences. Reviewing has served as a great learning opportunity for me as a doctoral student, and I love being able to make small contributions to new and important research related to disability and research methods!
